It doesn’t matter what you do after clicking the ad, by going to the sites you are just another guy (or girl) contributing to someone else’s revenue stream. Believe it or not, but this method is where the whole PPC (Pay Per Click) way of advertising began.

Anyway, adware is based on this model. Companies are being paid to get these software programs onto computers to display adverts on your PC.

Only a small amount of people actually clicks the ads to visit the site. Regardless of this, the company displaying the adverts will make money through cost per million (CPM) or PPC.

All CPM means is that for every million adverts displayed, the company makes a certain amount of money. Its more likely that the companies are paid CPM because of the fact that more and more people learn about adware and do not click the banners, but PPC is more effective. Through the use of CPM the companies make money just by displaying the adverts.
